Chapter 1

– A Suffocating Nightmare

Aurora’s POV

The wind howled past my ears, cold and merciless. Blood dripped steadily from the wound in my stomach.

I ran for my life, pushing forward with everything I had left. Behind me, a pack of massive gray wolves closed in without hesitation.

“Aaargh!”

A low growl pierced the frozen air. One of the wolves lunged, its claws flashing sharply.

“Slash!”

Its claws tore across my back, ripping open a fresh, burning wound.

“Ugh…”

I lost my balance and crashed hard into the snow.

Warm blood mixed with the melting frost beneath me, spreading like a slow, crimson stain. My limbs shook violently as I struggled to raise my head.

Through my blurry vision, I saw Evelyn walking toward me with calm, unhurried steps.

She wore a white ermine cloak, and with the snow swirling behind her, she looked like a cold winter goddess—beautiful, distant, and impossibly cruel.

“Aurora, why aren’t you running anymore?” she asked as she crouched beside me, her hand brushing my cheek with deceptive gentleness.

“You drugged me.” My voice was rough, cold, and edged with accusation. It wasn’t a question. It was the only thing that made sense, because my bond with my wolf, Doe, had been completely severed. I couldn’t feel her, hear her, or reach her at all.

I stared hard at Evelyn’s beautiful yet venomous face.

I was the long-lost daughter of the Sharp Family. Evelyn’s mother had used despicable methods to switch our identities for eighteen years. And even after I was found and brought home, I never intended to hurt Evelyn. I treated her like a precious little sister.

Why did she treat me like this?

Evelyn smirked as if she could read every accusation running through my mind.

“Don’t look at me like that. Blame yourself for coming back! As long as you’re alive, you’re proof that my entire identity is a lie. My mother stole your place with dirty tricks. The Sharp Family’s true eldest daughter is you, and that makes me a joke.”

As she spoke, she pulled a dagger from her sleeve.

“But that’s about to change.” Her eyes gleamed with manic determination. “Your family, your identity—starting today, all of it will be mine. The Moon Goddess only protects the final winner. And you? You’re the perfect sacrifice on my path to the throne.”

Before I could even react, she plunged the dagger into her own body.

I froze, stunned, unable to comprehend what I was seeing.

Suddenly, the bloody dagger was shoved into my hand.

Evelyn staggered back, ripped off her expensive cloak, and threw it over me.

Then, with a vicious tug, she tore open her own collar.

“Ahhh!”

“Help! Aurora, you’re insane! Why would you do this?!”

Her scream echoed sharply across the snow.

The gray wolves that had been chasing me a moment ago stopped instantly. They stepped behind me, forming a protective wall, growling fiercely nat Evelyn.

I stared at them in astonishment, unable to understand why the very beasts who had almost killed me were suddenly acting as my protectors.

“Stop!”

“Evelyn!”

A dozen luxury cars screeched to a halt in front of us.

The car doors flew open, and my real parents and several brothers rushed toward Evelyn as if she were the only person in danger.

“Dad, Mom, big brother… help me!” Evelyn cried, her voice trembling. Her shoulder was bruised and smeared with blood. “Aurora went crazy. She had Rogues kidnap me and tried to make them assault me. She said I don’t deserve to be a daughter of the Sharp Family. It hurts so bad… waaah…”

My oldest brother, Logan, couldn’t restrain himself. His gaze swept over the wolves behind me and stopped on the dagger still in my trembling hand.

Enraged, he stormed toward me. With one brutal kick, he knocked the dagger away. Then he stomped on my fingers, grinding them into the snow.

“Bitch! How dare you hurt Evelyn!”

“N-no… it wasn’t me…” I trembled, pain shooting up my arm. “Logan, please… let go…”

He pressed harder.

“A venomous woman like you—why the hell should you even be allowed to keep your hands?”

Crack!

The sickening sound of bones snapping echoed loudly. Logan crushed each finger one by one.

“Ah—!”

Pain exploded through me, tearing a raw scream from my throat.

I was a healer, a damn good one. With these hands, I had saved countless lives—including his.

Once, Logan had taken Evelyn and me to a business event. A lunatic attacked us and stabbed Logan in the eye with a silver dagger.

I grabbed the blade with my bare hand, ignoring the burning pain from the silver, and healed him before the damage became permanent.

The scar on the webbing of my right hand was still there.

And now he was destroying the same hands that had saved his life.

His gaze shifted to the Rogues behind me.

They immediately recalled their wolf spirits and dropped to their knees, trembling violently.

“Master Logan! We were forced into this! Miss Aurora kidnapped our families and threatened us to kidnap Miss Evelyn. But we never wanted to hurt her!”

“N-no… I didn’t…” My voice broke, weak and strained.

My father’s cold voice cut through the air. “Logan, stop wasting time. Deal with it quickly. Evelyn’s wound is still bleeding.”

Through my blurry vision, I saw Logan nod. He turned to the group of homeless men and gave a cold, indifferent order:

“If what you said is true, then she deserves the same. Whatever you were ordered to do to Evelyn—do it to her instead. No mercy.”

“No, no! You can’t do this to me!”

My desperate cries went unanswered.

My parents and brothers didn’t spare me a glance. They carefully lifted Evelyn into the car and drove away without hesitation.

The Rogues surrounded me again, cruel smiles stretching across their faces.

“I’ve never tasted a noble lady before.”

“Brother, today’s our lucky day.”

“We should thank Miss Evelyn for this.”

“No… don’t come any closer!”

Filthy hands closed around my ankles, tearing at my clothes, dragging me into darkness—

“Ah—!”

I jolted awake, gasping for air, sweat dripping down my forehead.

“Oh! Babe, Aurora, what’s wrong? Did you have that nightmare again?”

Doe’s voice echoed inside my mind, filled with worry.

Ever since my biological parents found me and insisted they were going to take me back to the Sharp Family, I had been having the same nightmare every night.

I squeezed my eyes shut. The suffocating despair clung to me like a second skin.

I tried to tell myself it was just a dream, but the pain had been too vivid. It made me fear that something terrible would truly happen if I returned to the Sharp Family.

“Doe, am I sick? Why do these horrific scenes keep replaying in my mind every night?”

Several sleepless nights had left dark circles under my eyes.

Barefoot, I got out of bed and gently pushed open the window.

Moonlight poured inside, the full moon glowing brightly in the night sky.

I took a deep breath.

“Ugh…”

A sudden wave of dizziness hit me, and I almost leaned too far out of the window.

“God, Aurora, look at your forehead!” Doe shouted.

Chapter 2

– Lady Luck

Aurora’s POV

Confused, I reached for the mirror on the dresser.

Under the cold moonlight, a faint silver crescent glowed on my forehead, shimmering like it was alive.

“It’s your bloodline gift! Babe, you’ve awakened the ancient Moon God bloodline. Precognition!” Doe exclaimed, practically vibrating with excitement.

But I couldn’t feel happy. A terrible thought flashed through my mind.

“So all the nightmares I’ve had this past month… they’re visions of the future?”

Images of betrayal by my own family and humiliation at the hands of the homeless flooded my head again.

The pain struck instantly. A sharp, crushing headache forced me to clutch my skull as a scream tore out of my throat. Tears streamed uncontrollably.

“Aurora, quickly take the Calming Elixir!”

Following Doe’s urging, I opened the drawer with trembling hands, grabbed a bottle of the potion, and swallowed it in one breath.

Ittook a while before my breathing began to steady.

With shaky fingers, I wiped my tear-stained face.

“Doe, I suddenly don’t want to go back to the Sharp Family.”

“Why, Aurora? If your biological parents knew you awakened such a rare bloodline talent, they’d be proud of you. Isn’t that what you always wanted?”

I forced a strained smile. “But it means those dreams might not just be dreams. The day after tomorrow, the Sharp Family is coming to take me back. And I heard their daughter’s name is Evelyn…”

“Uh…”

Doe looked uneasy. It already knew what was in my nightmares and had no comforting words to offer.

“Maybe… we shouldn’t go back?” it suggested softly.

I considered the idea, genuinely considered it, but finally shook my head.

“No. I’m not going to throw away everything I’ve prepared just because of a premonition.” I drew in a steadying breath. “If the dreams come true, I’ll face it. The Sharp Family treated me well, so I don’t mind repaying their kindness. And if things end the way they did in the visions… well, I won’t say I didn’t warn them.”

“Aurora, I’ll always be with you,” Doe murmured softly, trying to comfort me.

I let out a tired chuckle and stood. On my bedside table was a photo of me and my adoptive mother.

My fingertips brushed over her eyes and eyebrows.

“Mom, are you doing well in heaven? I’ve been taking good care of myself. I even found my family. You can rest peacefully now.”

A sudden knock sounded at the door.

“Miss, what happened? Do you need help?”

It was Henry’s voice. When I opened the door, his brows furrowed the moment he saw me.

“You look even more tired than yesterday.”

I gave him a gentle smile.

Henry had been left to me by my adoptive mother. He watched me grow up and was unwaveringly loyal. I invited him inside. Once he was sure I was unharmed, he hesitated before speaking.

“Yesterday, the Alpha of the Redrock Pack begged us for medicine again. His youngest son is gravely ill. He might not survive much longer.”

I lowered my gaze, rubbing my fingertips together.

“Tell him that if he’s willing to let his son participate as a test subject, I’ll provide him with special treatment. Cases of that bloodline infection are rare.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Henry, while I’m gone, Lunaris Laboratories will be under your command.”

He bowed deeply.

“It is an honor to serve you. Everyone has witnessed everything you’ve done for the laboratory. Mrs. Davis would be proud of you.”

My expression softened. My adoptive mother had been a remarkable woman—the founder of Lunaris Laboratories, the largest potion research facility in the werewolf world.

After her passing, I inherited her work, pushing the laboratory to a higher level. Now, I was the de facto head of the entire establishment.

To make operations easier, I used the codename “K.”

Everyone called me Mr. K.

Just like my mother, I had become someone both respected and feared.

“But… are you sure you don’t want me to assign a bodyguard?”

“No need. Betty Cooper from Emberfang Pack is in Mamba City. I once saved her grandmother. If anything happens, I’ll contact her.”

“And your official identity for the trip?”

I thought for a moment. “Register me as a pharmacist assistant at Lunaris Laboratories.”

The title alone carried enough weight to make powerful Alphas step aside.

Even a low-ranking staff member from Lunaris was someone no one wanted to provoke.

“Right away, my King.”

Night fell once again, and I dragged myself upright on the bed.

“Oh, Doe, if I don’t get some sleep soon, I’m going to collapse.”

“But every time I close my eyes, those prophetic dreams pull me right back…”

I buried my face in my hands.

Receiving the Moon Goddess’s blessing was extremely rare.

It meant I possessed a bloodline stronger than an Alpha’s.

But every gift came with a price.

My price was these brutal nightmares that stole every hour of sleep.

“Darling Aurora, you’re far too stressed. You need a break. There’s a great bar in town. Go relax… drown your nerves in some alcohol.”

“You’re right.” I threw off the blankets with new determination. “Tonight, I’m going to sleep like a rock.”

“Haha, you should’ve made this choice ages ago! Who knows, you might even run into a handsome mystery man.”

I washed up quickly, dressed, and drove to the bar Doe mentioned.

By the time I pushed the door open, it was already 1 a.m.

A wave of pounding music swallowed me instantly.

The dance floor pulsed like an electric heart, bodies moving wildly with the rhythm.

Just as I was taking in the scene, a sudden shout blasted through the speakers.

“Surprise! Beautiful lady!” the bartender called, drawing the entire bar’s attention. “You are our fifty-second guest tonight. That means VIP treatment! Everyone, welcome our Lady Luck!”

The bar exploded with cheers.

Whistles echoed from every corner.

Apparently, it was some kind of celebration. I happened to be the fifty-second guest and earned the title of Lady Luck.

“Looks like today really is my lucky day,” I whispered to Doe.

“Of course, babe. You’re always my Lady Luck.”

Before long, several handsome male models circled around me, moving with the music, confident and dangerously attractive.

The bartender explained that I could choose one of them to accompany me for the night as part of the Lady Luck privilege.

I neither accepted nor refused.

I simply let the music and alcohol wash through me, dancing until my limbs felt feather-light and my thoughts blissfully numb.

Eventually, exhausted, I stumbled into the VIP lounge prepared for me.

“Oh man, Doe, I should’ve listened to you and come earlier. That guy from before was unbelievably attractive.”

I hiccupped and babbled drunkenly while Doe buzzed around, just as intoxicated.

“You should’ve dragged him up here and kept him for the night. That slim waist looked like it could wreck you in the best way.”

“You’re right. Just wait… wait till I go back and find him.”

Chapter 3

— A Wild Night At The Bar

Aurora’s POV

The booze was messing with my head, turning everything warm and fuzzy. My senses were dull, and my thoughts were spinning. I turned around, ready to hunt down that model guy I had been eyeing earlier.

“Bam!”

“Ugh!”

My forehead smashed into a solid chest. I stumbled back, but a large hand shot out and caught my waist before I could fall flat on my ass.

Blinking through the haze, I looked up and met a pair of gorgeous emerald green eyes. They were sharp, clear, and unfairly beautiful.

“Hmm, Doe… he’s even prettier than that guy from earlier. You’re the one,” I muttered, barely thinking.

Before my brain could catch up, I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him hard. “Mmm… you smell good too…”

I heard him mutter under his breath, “Shit. Is this the woman Chris set me up with?”

“Huh?”

I frowned, too drunk to decode whatever that meant. Whatever. That was a tomorrow problem. Right now, I just wanted to get laid.

I grabbed his tie and yanked him toward the VIP lounge with all the confidence of a drunk queen. Once inside, I slammed the door shut with a loud thud that echoed through the room.

I gave him a slow smirk. “Take good care of me and you’ll get your reward.”

“What did you say?”

His voice had a deep, rough edge that almost sounded like a growl. I told myself I imagined it. No man would complain about spending the night with a woman like me.

I leaned in and nipped at his bottom lip. “Mmm, so sweet… tasty…”

Before I could take things further, my body suddenly lifted off the ground. A surprised gasp escaped me as he tossed me onto the bed. His hot, solid weight pressed down on me an instant later.

“Hey, lady, you made the first move,” he said, almost accusingly.

He began nibbling along my jawline, and one of his hands clumsily tugged at my clothes until my pink bra peeked out. He fumbled with it a little, like he wasn’t used to dealing with lingerie at all.

“Haha, you’re seriously adorable,” I whispered.

I slid my hand to his chest and guided him to the clasp behind my back. The moment he unhooked it, his mouth wrapped around one of my nipples.

“Ah…”

A tingling jolt shot through my entire body, making me moan before I could stop myself.

My legs curled around his waist, pulling him closer. A strange, needy warmth spread through me, tightening low in my belly.

Maybe he sensed it because a heartbeat later, a thick heat pressed between my thighs.

“Ugh…”

He kissed me deeply, his thick cock rubbing against me through my panties in slow, almost torturous strokes. My surprised gasp turned into soft, breathless moans against his lips.

A hot rush spread through me, and he chuckled low, his breath brushing my mouth.

He finally slid my underwear down. Instead of diving in like I expected, he paused and looked at me. Really looked. Once we were both completely naked, he stared at my body inch by inch with those stunning emerald eyes.

His expression was unexpectedly innocent, almost curious, like he was discovering something for the first time.

Then his hand slid down to my most sensitive spot.

“No… wait!”

I bit his shoulder hard, but he only grinned like he found my resistance interesting. His fingers kept teasing me until sparks burst across my skin.

“Asshole…”

Was he ever going to get to the point?

I could feel his desire easily, yet he held himself back like some saint with supernatural restraint. Maybe men trained as models really were professional teasers.

I rolled my eyes sharply and glared at him.

In the next moment, I reached down and grabbed his cock.

Oh My God. I froze.

My hand could not even wrap halfway around it.

Fuck!

My drunken fog thinned just enough for logic to scream at me. No way. There was no universe where that thing entered my body safely. I was not built for this kind of risk.

I immediately let go and tried to scramble away.

But it was too late.

He growled low, pinned my limbs down, and thrust into me in one hard, unstoppable push.

“Ah—!”

Tears gathered in my eyes as a sharp pain tore through me. “N-no, stop, it’s too big…”

The Moon Goddess’s prophecy never warned me I might die in bed tonight… sob sob…

But the pain didn’t last.

It slowly melted into a warm, overwhelming sensation that spread through my entire body. My lower belly still ached, but the rest of me relaxed as if a wave of heat washed over every nerve.

He lost all restraint then. His movements turned fierce and relentless, each thrust sending me arching into him. My moans filled the room, rising with his rhythm until everything around me blurred.

I lost track of how many times he took me. Whenever I drifted back from the edge, he was still there, still moving, still consuming me completely.

Eventually, I surrendered. My body went soft, pliant, and eager beneath him. I let him use me however he wanted, lost in the dizzying pleasure.

…

Morning sunlight blasted across my face, dragging me awake.

To my surprise, my entire body felt amazing. No soreness, no exhaustion, none of the discomfort everyone claimed a first time should bring. I stretched lazily on the sheets as the sound of running water drifted from the bathroom.

That model was taking a shower?

“Doe, you’re amazing. I actually slept like a baby! Guess the booze really worked.”

Doe didn’t respond. It was probably passed out after last night’s madness.

My phone buzzed.

It was Henry, my servant.

“Master, the Sharp Family wants to pick you up early to return home.”

I shot upright in bed. “Now? Alright, I’m heading back immediately!”

After hanging up, I glanced at the bathroom door with a sigh of regret.

Damn it. No chance to say goodbye to that gorgeous man.

Still, his performance had been exceptional.

I pulled out a check, scribbled down a generous number, and added a small note of thanks.

Feeling pleased with myself, I slipped out of the room and headed for the exit.

Chapter 4

Good Service, Here's Your Tip

Caleb Brooks’ POV

“Bam!”

“Oh, shit!” Chris rubbed his lower back where I’d hit him, rolling on the ground like a mangy dog refusing to get up.

“Again!” I clenched my fists and swung at him.

“I can’t take it! My Alpha, if you keep hitting me, we’ll be kissing the Moon Goddess goodbye!”

Every top fighter in the Howlwood Clan lay knocked out around us, groaning and unable to stand.

“Useless trash.” Sweat soaked my hair, but it still wasn’t enough. I needed to burn off the wild energy raging inside me. This restless power had been eating at me for months.

It all started three months ago.

I’m the Alpha of the Howlwood Clan. Three months back, I awakened a rare bloodline gift—Frenzy Bone.

Among the werewolf tribes, it’s considered a blessing from the Moon Goddess.

It boosts bone strength, power, and speed several times in battle, and even grants resistance to silver.

Sounds incredible, right? I thought the Howlwood Clan would rise to the top of the wolf world.

But the gift came with a nasty side effect.

I became more irritable, volatile, and mentally unstable. Headaches hammered my skull day and night. Sleep was impossible, especially on full moons.

I pinned my hopes on a potion from Lunaris Laboratories, but their boss, known only as “K,” was impossible to reach. He refused to meet with any of my people.

“Caleb, this isn’t working. We should go straight to Saintleaf Town ourselves. That's K’s turf. If we show sincerity, he might cooperate,” Chris said, appearing beside me and slapping my shoulder.

Though I was the Alpha, Chris and I grew up together. Behind the scenes, we were more like brothers.

“Maybe you’re right. I heard the Alpha of the Redrock Pack visited personally to get medicine for his son.”

“Yeah. And rumor says he actually got K’s potion.”

I considered it for a moment before deciding to go to Saintleaf Town myself. If K cooperated, I’d reward him well. If he didn’t… I had other ways to make him cooperate.

I told Chris I was going alone and set off.

Two days in Saintleaf Town brought me nothing. K was far more mysterious than I’d expected. The whole town ran under his watch without a single obvious lead.

My frustration grew, and my unstable energy spiked to dangerous levels.

Chris suggested I hit a bar to relax, claiming he had a “surprise” that might help calm me down.

I was curious at first—until he revealed the surprise was a woman.

I almost laughed. Even the tough women in our tribe avoided me because of my volatile temper. What could some random woman possibly do?

I lost interest immediately and turned to leave.

But then a drunk woman stumbled into my path.

I was about to push her aside until I recognized her—Lady Luck from the dance floor.

The way she danced was hypnotizing.

Curiosity flickered. When she nearly fell, I caught her by the waist.

A soft floral scent mixed with herbs drifted from her skin. Maybe it was my imagination, but my wild mental energy eased for a second.

Before I could think, she kissed me boldly.

I froze. Remembering what Chris said about a surprise, then hearing her whisper, “It’s you,” everything clicked.

So this was his setup.

Well… not bad.

I slept better that night than I had in three months.

The next morning, I woke feeling calm—truly calm—for the first time in ages. I turned and saw her asleep beside me, blonde hair spilling over the pillow, her soft hand resting on my waist.

I recalled her pale blue eyes from last night, teary and pleading. A sharp breath escaped me.

“What a little troublemaker.”

Then I noticed the bruises on her body. I hesitated. I’d heard a first time could be painful…

Suppressing the urge stirring below, I gently moved her hand away and slipped into the shower.

No sooner had I finished than my phone buzzed.

Chris’s teasing voice blasted through the speaker.

“So? Brooks, my man, how’d you sleep? Didn’t scare her off, did you? You know the women in our tribe run from you. You should smile more!”

“Not bad,” I said calmly, a rare smirk forming on my lips.

“Knew it! I told you the girl I picked was perfect for you!”

I opened my mouth to reply—but then my eyes landed on the bed.

Empty.

My heart skipped.

She was gone.

On the nightstand sat a check for a hundred grand and a note.

I grabbed it.

Good service. This is for you.

Chris was still laughing through the phone. “So? Was it unforgettable?”

I almost crushed the paper in my fist. “Unforgettable, alright?.”

“Uh… what’s wrong? You don’t sound too happy.”

“Give me that woman’s contact information.”

“Come on, man, she’s just a bar girl. Have fun, don’t take it seri—”

“Cut the crap. Give it to me.”

“Alright, alright! Hold on!”

A moment later, Chris returned, shocked. “Shit! That chick said she had a date last night and never showed up. Dude… you actually slept with someone else last night?”

I pressed my fingers to my forehead.

“Unbelievable.”

I stared at the note again. Remembering the strange connection we shared, remembering how calm I'd felt this morning…

My eyes narrowed.

“You little troublemaker. Don’t let me find you.”

Chapter 5

The Heiress Returns

Aurora’s POV

I had barely returned home when I noticed a black sedan parked right at my doorstep.

Henry stood beside it, looking stern as he spoke to a middle-aged man.

The moment Henry spotted me, he straightened his posture and gave a respectful salute.

“Miss!”

The middle-aged man turned and gave me a slow, assessing look, his expression dripping with arrogance.

“So you’re Miss Aurora? I am Mason, the Sharp family’s butler. I’ve been sent to bring you home.”

“Bring me home?” I yawned, not bothering to hide how annoyed I was.

That man last night had worn me out completely. All I wanted was to collapse in bed and catch up on sleep.

“I need to rest. I’ll leave tomorrow.”

“But—”

I cut him off, brushed past him, and walked into the yard.

Henry stepped forward just in time, blocking the butler from entering.

By the next morning, when I opened the second-floor window, Mason was still there, pacing in front of the house like an anxious guard dog.

Henry stood as firm as a statue, refusing to let him in.

I chuckled softly, took my time getting dressed, put on my sunglasses, grabbed my bags, and headed downstairs.

Mason’s expression fell the moment he saw me, but he forced a smileanyways.

“Miss Aurora, are you ready? Your family is waiting for you.”

I shot him a sideways look from behind my sunglasses.

“Let’s go.”

The Sharp family was currently led by my father, Aides Sharp.

My grandfather had once served as the brave Beta beside the Alpha of the Northwind Tribe, which earned the Sharps a special position in the clan.

The car rolled slowly into the estate grounds. The place was massive.

The main house stood tall in pure Gothic style, surrounded by carefully maintained gardens that reeked of wealth and power.

Mason led me toward the front hall.

Before we even entered, a wave of dramatic crying echoed from inside.

“Mom, my sister must hate me. That’s why she refused to come back yesterday… Maybe I should just leave. I don’t want to make things harder for everyone…”

“Evelyn, don’t blame yourself! Blame Aurora instead. She’s acting arrogant before even stepping foot in our home. Typical behavior from someone raised among lowly commoners. No manners at all. Mom, don’t stop me this time. I’m going to teach her some respect!”

I tugged at the corner of my mouth, shoved my hands in my pockets, and strolled in slowly.

Inside the living room, several people were crowded together, trying to comfort each other with exaggerated sympathy.

Based on my premonition dreams, the red-haired man shouting about teaching me respect had to be my seventh brother, Ethan.

And there, nestled against Mrs. Sharp and crying theatrically, was Evelyn.

In my dreams, I had clung desperately to this hard-won family. I had bent over backwards, humiliated myself repeatedly, and practically offered up my dignity just to make them acknowledge me.

But now?

Yeah, no. Absolutely not.

Clap. Clap.

I applauded as if I were watching a ridiculous soap opera.

Ethan turned, saw me, and immediately exploded.

“So you’re Aurora? Then get over here and apologize to Evelyn right now!”

“I didn’t make her cry. Why the hell should I apologize?”

I shrugged, genuinely confused by his logic.

“How is it not your fault? I even sent Mason, our butler, to pick you up yesterday. Why didn’t you come back on time?”

“Oh, that? I thought the agreed time was today. I’m someone who sticks to schedules.”

“You—!”

Ethan glared at me with murderous fury, but I felt surprisingly calm.

Thank the Moon Goddess for the warning my premonition dreams gave me. Without them, their hostility might have crushed me.

Our argument drew my father’s attention. Aides lowered his newspaper, his face turning dark as he strode over.

“Aurora, get on your knees!”

Ethan smirked like a shark, mouthing, “You’re done for.”

I rolled my eyes. “Why the hell should I kneel?”

“You really have to ask? Do you have any idea what you did last night?”

I frowned. What on earth was he implying?

I was confident no one had managed to infiltrate Saintleaf Town on their behalf.

Unless… my eyes narrowed as I glanced back at Mason.

Unless it was him.

“What exactly are you talking about? Maybe explain yourself properly.”

“You’re still just a child, yet you were out all night with no word. Do I need to spell it out? Shameful!”

Aides trembled with rage, pointing at me with a shaking finger.

His accusations, without even asking what truly happened, stabbed a faint ache into my chest.

Those premonition dreams had hit harder than expected.

Only a few days, yet I still carried the emotions I’d felt for this family inside the dream.

But once I thought it through, I forced the ache away.

I had been alone for eighteen years, never knowing warmth or belonging.

To come back home only to be met with suspicion and blame—anyone would break.

“You never cared about me for the past eighteen years. Now you suddenly want to discipline me? Isn’t it a bit late?”

“How dare you! Someone bring the family discipline board!”

Mason immediately rushed off to obey.

“So you say we never taught you any discipline. Then today you’ll learn.”

“Daddy, no!”

To my surprise, it was Evelyn who spoke up.

She cried pitifully, tears streaming down her face as she clutched Aides’ sleeve.

“Please don’t punish Aurora with harsh discipline. She’s your own daughter. Don’t fight because of me…”

Mrs. Sharp looked moved and hugged her.

“Oh, Evelyn, my dear child, you’re just too kind.”
