Chapter 1

Escaping My Duties

Prologue

It is in the middle of the night, and the only light available is that of the moon. The back door of the pack house slowly opens, and a head peeks around the door to look around.

“If that Moron thinks I will keep jumping through hoops for him, he has another thing coming,” Daphne growls at her wolf with enough Crimson Nectar in her system to make her a little unsteady on her feet.

She slowly makes her way to one of the borders, keeping her eyes and ears open to avoid any of the pack members.

“I wish someone had warned me about what I signed up for. I thought I would have a nice and easy life as a Luna, but I barely have time for myself. If I have to hear one more person talk about security, finances, or being the mother of the pack, I am going to scream.” Daphne says to her wolf, who softly growls in agreement.

A few feet away from the border, she has to wait until a patrol passes, and then she makes a run for it.

“What took you so long?” Baron asks as Daphne gets into the passenger seat of the SUV.

“I might know all the patrols, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t other pack members I could have run into,” Daphne responds before turning her head toward the window.

Under her breath, she mumbles the words that will break her bond with her mate and the pack. The words that will give her back her freedom, or so she thinks.

An angry roar breaks through the silence of the night as the SUV speeds away from the territory. Daphne closes her eyes to relish in her newfound freedom.

Over ten years ago, Daphne had accepted a chosen mate with a high rank. An Alpha, who needed a Luna by his side, had accepted the offer.

It wasn’t until after they had been marked and mated and held her Luna Ceremony that she was informed of her duties, and at first, she had thought that everyone had been kidding. She tried to get out of the mate bond, but she had been pregnant by then.

“No more listening to pack members and their problems. No more boring meetings to sit through. No more kids asking where their stuff is.” Daphne says to her wolf.

She hated her life from the moment she knew she was trapped. Her pregnancy made it impossible to escape her mate, but it was also the one thing that gave her time to take things easy. Until her son was a few months old, that is.

In the first five years, she managed to avoid many of her duties because she was either pregnant or caring for a newborn. She tried to avoid her responsibilities as much as she could, but her mate wouldn’t allow it.

It was the cause of many fights between them, and during the last Alpha meeting, Daphne found a shifter willing to help her escape a loveless mate bond. It had taken her months to plan her escape.

Baron doesn’t know the complete story, only what Daphne was willing to share with him. Baron is unaware of the title she tossed aside, or who her chosen mate was.

“In a few days, we will be in Red Lotus territory, and then you will be safe,” Baron says as he places his hand on top of Daphne’s.

Her mate bond with Baron will not give her the high rank she had always wanted, but she would have a lot more time to herself, and no one would bother her during her time off. As a Luna, she never had any time off; she was on call twenty-four seven.

A few days later, Daphne arrives at the Red Lotus pack with Baron and begins her new life. Far from the place she once called home, far from the man who accepted her as his chosen mate and the mother of his children.

Far away from the constant questions and demands from her children, her mate, and the pack members.

It takes Daphne a week or two to feel comfortable enough to walk around the territory without fear. When she begins helping Baron with training the Elite warriors, she regains her confidence. It is her excitement about her new life that causes her to overlook a few signs, and when she finally pieces it all together, it is too late.

“I thought you had broken every connection you had with him?” Baron asks when they found out that Daphne was pregnant.

“I did, or at least I thought I had. If only I had discovered it sooner, I wouldn’t have to see this through.” Daphne answers him. She explains that terminating the pregnancy would cause too much damage, and they wouldn’t be able to have children together.

Baron hates watching Daphne grow rounder with another man’s child, but he doesn’t want to risk losing the ability to have kids of their own. He wants his son to take over the position of Captain, and he feels that time is still on his side.

Baron and Daphne decide it would be best if people don’t ask too many questions, and it takes a few well-placed comments from both of them about Daphne’s family history to accomplish that.

The night that Daphne gives birth is a night both of them want to forget about. They desperately try to ignore it, but knowing what they did that night makes it impossible.

Baron walks out of the house, only minutes after Daphne gave birth, and walks deep into the forest with a tiny bundle in his arms. He is too preoccupied to notice the shadow that follows him; his focus is on the bundle in his arms and finding a place to dump it.

Baron places the bundle between some bushes underneath a giant, old tree, and after one final look around to make sure that no one saw him, he heads back to the house.

A shadow slowly pulls away from another tree as Baron walks further away from the dumpsite, and as the shadow watches Baron leave the forest, the shadow moves closer to the bushes.

“They will pay for what they did. They will regret the choices they have made in the past few months.” The shadow mumbles as he picks up the bundle from the ground.

The shadow had kept an eye on the trees where Baron had left the forest, and once the shadow was sure that he wouldn’t return, he took the bundle and disappeared into the night.

Baron and Daphne take all the precautions they can to make the pack believe that she had a stillborn child to pull the wool over the pack members' eyes.

Years pass as they get into a routine of their own. Baron went back to the forest one night, a few weeks after that fateful night, but he never found a trace of what he had left there.

After the Alpha of Darkmoon Warriors was killed and his pack members got scattered across the Kingdom, Red Lotus pack finally entered the top five of the strongest packs in the Kingdom.

It meant more work for Baron and Daphne, and both welcomed the workload as a way to forget about their own problems for a while. Training the Elite warriors to the Kingdom's high standards was a demanding job, leaving them with little free time.

This was the main reason neither of them realized how many years slipped through their fingers without having a child of their own.

Chapter 2

A Young Girl

Red Lotus pack

Fourteen years later

Mia’s p.o.v.

I have been working at the Lomazac house for a few months now, and it is precisely as I had expected.

Daphne is demanding when it comes to cooking and cleaning, but I am not here to make a buck. I am here to put a theory to the test, and so far, they have failed it.

Baron is too busy with the annual Elite warrior tournament to pay much attention to me, and even if he did take the time, I doubt he would be able to figure it out.

“How many warriors do you think will sign up this year?” Daphne asks as she pushes me aside to sit down at the table.

“Fifty to sixty, as every year.” He responds.

Baron has posted the sign-in sheet for Elite warrior training, as the annual Elite warrior tournament will take place in nine months.

Every warrior, age seventeen and up, can sign up for training, as the Alpha wants to give everyone a chance to compete. Instead of signing up with their names, all they have to do is place an X in one of the squares.

No one will know the identity of those who will be training for the tournament. A rule that was established decades ago, when a future Alpha refused to accept a woman into his protection detail.

It is the topic of every conversation throughout the day, and I'm getting a bit tired of hearing it, mainly because of Reese, the Lomazac’s adoptive son, who wants to enter but isn’t old enough yet.

School has been as exhilarating as usual. Bianca, the Lomazac’s adoptive daughter, was her usual bitchy self, and I had to get my books off the floor two times before school was out.

“Bianca, dinner is ready,” Daphne calls out from the bottom of the stairs, and moments later, footsteps are heard coming down.

Three years ago, Baron’s brother was killed, leaving behind two teenagers. Alpha Tibald granted Baron and Daphne permission to adopt them. Both of them are obnoxious, think they are better than anyone else, and love to put down any lower-ranking pack members.

“What did the little Moron cook this time?” Bianca asks as she walks into the kitchen, colliding with me while I am holding two plates of food.

The collision causes me to lose my balance, and the food ends up covering Bianca’s chest. I watch as Bianca starts screaming as the pasta and sauce slowly slide off her clothes, and Baron runs toward the noise.

“Get the fuck out and don’t ever come back. I am done with you.” Baron says as he tries to grab me, but I manage to get away from him.

I run out of the front door with a smirk appearing on my face, almost running into Jori, the future Alpha and Bianca’s current boyfriend.

I disappear from sight by the time Baron walks out the front door, and Jori is looking in the direction I ran, but doesn’t say anything about it to Baron.

Being a short shit has its advantages, because no one can see me as I keep listening to the conversation while staying out of sight.

“Who was that? I don’t think I have ever seen her before.” Jori asks as he walks inside to greet Bianca and Daphne.

“An Omega, not someone you should have to worry about,” Daphne responds. “Bianca will be down in a minute. That little Twit spilled food all over Bianca.”

I chuckle at the grave that Daphne has started to dig for herself. Jori isn’t an Idiot, and he knows that the Lomazacs can’t afford to hire an Omega or Sigma to cook and clean for them.

I follow them as Jori takes the Lomazac family to the pack house to have dinner with his family on the Alpha floor. I know how to get onto the Alpha floor without being detected, and I am bored out of my brain as I listen to their conversation during dinner.

“Mom, I thought that the Omegas only worked in the pack house?” I hear Jori ask as the Lomazac family is ready to head home. I can’t see Daphne from where I am hiding, but I bet she has turned pale.

“That is correct. Omegas only work in the pack house; they are not allowed to work for anyone else, whether they get paid or not.” His mother responds. The air fills with tension at her answer, but Alpha Tibald shifts everyone’s attention toward himself.

“Baron, I hope that you can manage to get Jori an excellent team.” Alpha Tibald says, and it seems that everyone has forgotten about Jori’s question. Instead of leaving the Alpha floor, I decide to find out if Alpha Tibald will continue this conversation without the Lomazacs present.

“What was it with your question about Omegas?” Alpha Tibald asks his son as the three of them sit down in the living room. I knew the Alpha wasn’t a complete fool and would question this strange question from Jori.

“I ran into a young girl who was fleeing from their house. Daphne told me she was just an Omega, and I shouldn’t worry about it. I have never seen an Omega at their home before, and Daphne always says she takes care of everything for her family.” I hear Jori answer his Father.

For a few moments, the Alpha floor is quiet. They must be thinking about a possible explanation for this, but I doubt they can find one.

“What did she look like?” He asks his son, but all Jori tells him is that the girl was small. He is right; I am small.

“She ran past me, and I was too shocked to pay attention. About twelve years old, could be a year older. I can’t tell you the color of her hair or if she resembles a pack member.” Jori responds.

I am glad that Jori didn’t get a good look at me, or it could have ruined everything I have been planning for years. I still have a lot to prepare before I am ready to reveal a part of the truth, and knowing that Jori has no idea who I am is a relief.

“That was a close call, kiddo.” I hear Salvino say after I walk into the house and explain to him why I am late.

“It wasn’t. Neither of them suspects a thing. Jori won’t be able to recognize me, and he isn’t old enough to remember.” I reply as I take off my boots and walk up the stairs to freshen up.

“I am going for a walk. Dinner is in the oven,” Salvino calls out, and I smile at the thought of his cooking as I walk down the stairs.

Salvino has made his chicken-and-rice casserole, and I know I am going to be stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey by the time I am done eating.

Chapter 3

Taking My Punishment

Mia’s p.o.v.

It still bugs me that no one knows the truth, but Salvino has said that it will become clear in a few years.

Red Lotus pack might be one of the strongest packs in the Kingdom, but no matter how many Elite warriors we have, we will never become the strongest pack.

I might need to explain that to you. It isn’t common knowledge, and most Alphas believe they can reach the top if they push their warriors to the limit.

Only a pack that is led by a lycan leadership can become the strongest, but there aren’t many Alpha families left with a lycan shifter. Betas and Gammas with a lycan shifter are more common, and many Alphas have tried to get them to take chosen mates from their pack.

Unfortunately, lycans are very stubborn and will only accept a chosen mate under specific circumstances.

My mind wanders to the Lomazac family. Baron is the Captain of the Elite warriors, and his mate, Daphne, is his second in command. As far as anyone knows, they never had any children; at least that is what they want everyone to think.

Salvino and I know the truth, but for the time being, we will keep it to ourselves and let them live in their delusional bubble.

Daphne Lomazac thinks she did me a favor by offering me a job as their maid. I only agreed to see if either of them would recognize me, but so far, both are oblivious.

There is a downside, though. Reese and Bianca. They adopted the teenagers a few years ago, after their father died, and there was no other family to take them in.

Reese is an opinionated ass who thinks he is the Goddess's gift to women, and he doesn’t seem to care about finding his fated mate. He hopes to follow in his uncle’s footsteps one day, but I hope someone will hand him his ass one day.

Bianca is even worse. She has always been calling the lower-ranking pack members names and shoving them to the ground or into the wall whenever she can. Now, she orders everyone around because she is dating our future Alpha, until he gets tired of her, as he does with all his girlfriends.

“You need to avoid the Lomazac family as much as you can. Daphne says that you remind her of her mother, and the only reason they haven’t connected the dots is that you appear to be too young.” Salvino says as he walks into the living room.

“Baron is upset because the Alpha and Luna know that they had a maid without their permission. He still resents Daphne for not aborting the pregnancy, and Daphne thinks you are too young anyway. They might connect the dots eventually if you don’t stay away from them.” Salvino says, looking at me.

I know that Salvino is afraid that someone might figure out the truth before we are ready to reveal it, but I doubt anyone around here is smart enough.

“Did they see you?” I ask him teasingly. No one can see him if he doesn’t want you to see him, and I know that.

“Neither of them noticed me near the window. I was in the shadows, and no one paid attention to the shadows. Not even a shadow that would do more damage to the Lomazac family than anyone could have ever predicted. This shadow has been waiting for years to get revenge, and soon the time will come to set a plan in motion that will rock the Kingdom.” Salvino says, smiling.

I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with him, at least partially. If one of them ever uses their brain and asks about my age, we are going to have a problem.

“Daphne said she didn’t want to see me again, so that solves the problem,” I tell Salvino before I turn in for the night.

I wake in the morning with a terrible mood. It is a school day, and it will be a day to dread.

Bianca isn’t one to forgive and forget. Especially not when it comes to me. I will have to take precautions, since I have no idea what she might have in store for me, and no one will come to my aid; she's made sure of that.

Salvino has breakfast ready by the time I get downstairs, and I sit down as I wish him a good morning. Neither of us says much as we eat, and after placing the dishes in the dishwasher, I walk out of the house to get to school.

“Okay, here we go.” I think to myself as I walk into the building and see Bianca with her usual crowd a few feet away from the door.

None of them look at me, and that makes me feel even more uncomfortable. It is so damn obvious that they are up to something, and ignoring me makes it even more apparent.

I act as if I am oblivious to whatever is going to come. It will happen, whether I try to stop it or not. I learned quickly that accepting her “punishment” made everything easier, and I had perfected my reaction to her bullying.

The moment I walk past the group, it happens. I feel the cold liquid hit the top of my head, and at the same time, a cold liquid hits my back.

I freeze where I stand, my eyes start to water, and I see Bianca stepping in front of me.

“You ruined my best dress. The dress I bought for Jori is now ruined. You are worthless, stupid piece of filth.” Bianca says as she leans toward me.

I have to keep myself from throwing some of the liquid in her face. It will result in a beating from her posse, and without my shifter half, it will take days to recover.

“I know you did it on purpose. You want Jori for yourself, but that will never happen. Jori is mine, and I will become the Luna of Red Lotus pack.” Bianca says.

“Damn, she really is delusional.” I think to myself as I lower my head. To others, it looks as if I am afraid of her and the consequences if I talk back.

After a few more insults and another cold liquid being dumped on my head, they finally walk away. I run in the opposite direction and make it to class on time, despite having to change into clean clothes and comb my hair.

I get through the rest of the day without running into Reese or Bianca, which is easy, as I am a grade ahead of Bianca and a grade behind Reese.

At the age of fourteen, I have skipped a few grades, and with the help of Salvino, I will graduate before Reese and Bianca do.

Chapter 4

Elite Warrior Tournament

Red Lotus pack

Three years later

Every pack member has gathered in the garden behind the pack house. An announcement was made a week ago, inviting them to join the Alpha family for a celebratory dinner and an important announcement.

“Thank you for joining us on this joyous day. Tomorrow, many of you will compete for the rank of Elite warrior, and therefore, we decided to celebrate our news with a dinner.” Alpha Tibald says as he looks around the garden.

“Jori found his connection with Bianca. It happened a year ago, but they didn’t want any of us to know. They wanted to use this time to form a strong bond to better the Red Lotus pack.” Alpha Tibald says.

Most pack members cheer and applaud the couple, but none of them genuinely believe the excuse their Alpha gives. It is challenging to stay away from your mate once the bond has formed, and almost a year is a very long time to ignore it.

“Pay attention. You only have one chance at success. Fail, and you are out.” Baron says the following morning. He doesn’t have to yell to be heard because everyone present wants to listen to every word he speaks.

This year, there are almost a hundred and thirty shifters who signed up to become an Elite warrior.

Almost every wolf within the borders of Red Lotus territory wants to become an Elite warrior, the best position they can achieve in life. Unless you are born to the Alpha, Beta, or Gamma family, they are even higher in rank and respected by most pack members.

Today is the annual tournament to become an Elite warrior, and Baron has been training this group for over nine months to become the best they can be.

Not only will everyone who succeeds today become an Elite warrior, but the future Alpha will also pick five of them as his personal protection detail. An honor you can only receive when it is clear that the current Alpha is going to retire.

To prevent future Alphas from being biased, the warriors will compete in the same outfit and wear masks. It is even difficult to determine if you are looking at a man or a woman. To keep track of who is still in and who is already out, each warrior has to grab a number to put on their outfit.

Baron is nervous about the tournament because his adoptive son, Reese, is competing for the title of Elite warrior. If he succeeds, then he can choose to serve the future Alpha or take over from Baron someday. So far, Reese hasn’t made it clear what he will do if he is given the choice, but Baron hopes to hand the position to him.

After giving his final instructions, Baron steps aside to give the floor to the Alpha to address his pack members.

“Baron, thank you for training these pack members. I hope they will be as successful as previous years and that each of them will do you proud.” The Alpha says before he turns his attention to the crowd. “I pray to the Goddess that each of you finishes the tournament. Let’s start the first trial.”

The first trial is a run through the forest, a path that Baron marked this morning, and no one knows where it leads before it ends up back at the training grounds. Elite warriors are posted along the path to give Baron an account of the runners.

One hundred and twenty-six pack members are participating, and at the end of the first trial, twelve have been eliminated. After another two trials testing their fighting skills, seventy-eight participants remain.

The last trial has always had the most failures; it is an obstacle course made of tree trunks slammed into the ground. You have to jump from one trunk to the next, constantly moving from left to right or from right to left.

If you fall before the halfway mark, you are out of the competition, and the further you get, the higher your rank within the Elite warriors will be. It is the most practiced part of the tournament, and many have failed it multiple times.

It takes more than two hours for the last participant to finish the obstacle course, and only twelve make it all the way to the other side. Their times will eventually reveal their rank.

“Will all the contestants who passed all the trials step forward?” The Alpha asks. “ I have an announcement to make, and it has consequences for the ones who passed their training.”

Baron and his Mate, Daphne, are watching as the last twelve step forward, both hoping that Reese is among the top ten. The future Alpha almost always chooses his personal protection detail from the top ten.

“I will only announce the top ten from the bottom up.” The Alpha states and starts calling the top ten participants. The first three numbers called out had some of the fastest times during the first trial.

Once their number is called, they may reveal their identity, but it isn’t required.

After eight numbers have been called out, Reese isn’t among them, and Baron is optimistic that Reese will take first place. The future Alpha asked the individuals who finished in third, fourth, and fifth place to join his protection detail.

“Number eighty-three, you managed to be the fastest on three out of the four trials. You are also selected for the protection detail.” The Alpha says, and an angry-looking Reese pulls off his mask.

Baron is stunned to learn that his adoptive son didn’t finish first, and he is deeply disappointed in Reese. The Lomazac family is a respected family within their pack as an Elite warrior family, but Baron feels that Reese let the family down.

“Number one hundred, you had the fastest time on every trial. You beat one of this pack’s all-time favorites, and you will become the leader of my son’s protection detail.” The Alpha says.

None of the pack members had any idea who this person might be, because they had all expected Reese to end up in first place. No one had been able to defeat him during training, and yet here was another person walking away with the prize.

The person who steps forward takes their time in removing their mask, dragging it out as best they can. Gasps are heard as long, blond curls roll down the back, and for a moment, no one says a word.

Chapter 5

One Secret Down

Mia’s p.o.v.

I listen to Alpha Tibald’s announcement as something stirs in the back of my mind.

“How can he pretend there is a connection with her?” I hear the soft growl of my lycan. She isn’t angry about losing her mate; she is furious that he would put this pack at risk.

“It is his choice. Alpha Tibald isn’t stupid; he must know that there was never a connection. My best guess is that Bianca is pregnant, and Jori has no other choice.” I respond.

Salvino and I keep to the back of the garden, as far away from the leadership as we can. It is more critical now that Daphne and Baron don’t see me, as it would ruin everything we have tried to hide.

I still don’t know the whole story, but Salvino says that it will become clear when I turn eighteen.

We head home before dessert is served. I need a good night’s sleep before the tournament tomorrow, as it will be a dramatic day for the Red Lotus pack, and at least one secret will come to light.

Each trial passes by quickly, and Salvino keeps track of Reese’s times and compares them to mine.

I wait patiently as Alpha Tibald announces the top ten, and I hear my lycan chuckle as he calls out Reese as the number two. Not the spot anyone suspected he would end up with.

Salvino smiles as Alpha Tibald announces that the number one beat the pack’s all-time favorite, and I slowly walk forward through the crowd. I know that Jori will figure it out when our eyes lock, but at the moment, I am more interested in Bianca and Daphne’s reaction.

“Everyone looks stunned.” My lycan says as we make our way to the front. She is right; none of them understand who could have defeated him, because, like the rest of the pack, they can’t think of anyone who ever bested Reese during training.

There is a valid explanation for it, because I never trained with the others. None of them ever saw me on the training grounds. I couldn’t risk being seen by the Lomazac family; it would have spoiled the surprise.

My long, blond curls are the first thing to be revealed as I start to remove my mask. I can hear the gasps as I look up at the stage to see Daphne. I want her to see my face and know that her secret will come out.

“He knows.” My lycan says, and she doesn’t have to tell me who she is talking about.

Everyone can see Jori taking a step forward, his wolf near the surface. Bianca is trying to pull him back, but he shakes her hand off to take a few more steps. When he reaches the bottom of the steps, I am ready to pull off my mask completely.

My eyes haven’t left Daphne’s face, and I see her eyes widen as she turns as pale as a sheet.

“You thought you got away with it, didn’t you?” I ask as I throw the mask on the ground. “You thought that you had destroyed your last connection to your past. You thought you had distanced yourself from your past. Surprise, you didn’t.”

I turn to face the man who was meant to be my mate, but chose to sleep around and get another woman pregnant.

“I have no interest in you, Jori. You chose not to wait for your connection, and your parents allowed it. Bianca can have you and this damn pack with it. Red Lotus will regret their treatment of lower-ranking shifters.” I say before I turn my back on him and walk away.

“You can’t feel a connection to Jori; you are too young.” Bianca hisses, but when I look at her over my shoulder, she sees my best-kept secret.

“I can, and I do. However, it won’t be there for long. My lycan doesn’t want Jori or his wolf, and neither do I.” I say as I feel the connection break, and Jori’s wolf howls in pain as they feel it break on their end.

I can hear the whispers of the pack members. The youth whisper about the fake connection between Jori and Bianca, while the older pack members whisper about the resemblance between Daphne and me.

“Baron, were you aware of what Daphne tried to do to her child?” Alpha Tibald asks, and I wonder if he will tell him the truth.

“Not only did he know, but he was also the one who dumped her in the forest. She was barely thirty minutes old, and he left her there to die.” Salvino answers.

While the pack members respond to Salvino’s statement, we slip away from the training grounds and head back to the cottage, which I have called home for seventeen years.

We head to our bedrooms to grab our bags, and I look around the room I have slept in for seventeen years.

It looks as if no one ever lived here; no pictures on the wall, no other knick-knacks. Only a bed, a nightstand, and a chair are inside the room.

As a little girl, I always asked Salvino why we didn’t decorate the cottage, and when I was old enough, he finally explained a few things. The main reason is that we wouldn’t be able to take anything with us on the day we would have to leave.

All our essential papers are in my laptop bag, and our clothing fits in one bag each. We don’t waste any more time than we have to and quickly make our way to the nearest border to leave this pack behind.

“Coast is clear.” I hear someone whisper from the shadows, and as we cross the border, a man appears. He looks like a younger version of Salvino, but I don’t say or ask anything. My first priority is to get the hell out of here.

I still can’t believe that we just walked out of the territory. Salvino always warned me that this day would come, but deep down, I didn’t really believe him.

I doubt I ever truly believed anything he told me until today. Some of the things he told me started to make sense about a year ago, when my lycan showed up.

She made me realize that at least he didn’t lie about her. Salvino constantly told me that I would shift into a lycan on my eighteenth birthday, just like him, and I had always doubted it. After all, every shifter in Red Lotus territory is a wolf.

My second priority is to get some sleep. The tournament was exhausting, and I had to give it my all to beat Reese at every trial. Nothing else matters right now; I can deal with it later.

“Happy to be out of there?” The man asks, but I doubt he is talking to me. Salvino just hums a little before he places his head against the window and drifts off to sleep.

I have no idea where we are heading; all I know is that Salvino needs to see a friend. A friend who will change my life for good, according to Salvino, and that was all he was willing to say about it.

“Red Lotus pack will regret what they did.” My lycan growls before she curls up to go to sleep.

We never understood how an entire pack could ignore Daphne’s pregnancy or how they never asked questions about the baby. Alpha Tibald could and should have ordered them to tell the truth back then, but he didn’t, and that is unforgivable.
