Chapter 1

Died on My Mating Night

Evelyn's POV:

The moment my heart was ripped out, I knew I was doomed.

Right then and there, my killer stood straight in front of me.

I didn't recognize him, but I caught a whiff of my stepsister Lillian Vandeleur's scent on his clothes.

My wolf, Selene, used her last bit of strength to reach out to our mate, Samuel Blackwood.

But both Samuel and his wolf Kael just spat out cruel words.

Evelyn, you'd better just die!

Why do you always try to take everything from Lillian? You're the one who should die!

Samuel was actually cursing me to my death?

He'd totally forgotten that tonight was our mating night—and also the night of the Blood Moon, a once-in-a-century event.

The wolves were howling, celebrating that sacred night.

If only Samuel and I had completed the mating ritual that night, the Progenitor Bloodline within me would have fully awakened, and both our powers would have reached the peak of werewolf strength.

Yet, for Lillian, an Omega, he had abandoned me—and had abandoned ultimate power!

"Progenitor! It's the Progenitor's heart!" The killer whooped in excitement, his face twisted with greed.

I thought once I—his so-called "obstacle"—was dead, he'd finally be able to be with Lillian openly.

Never in a million years did I expect Samuel to lose his mind completely when he found out my wolf tooth had been turned into a protective pendant and hung around his neck.

*****

After my heart was ripped out, Selene's strength faded fast. I wasn't going to let myself die so blindly, so unfairly.

"Selene, hold on! Once Samuel finds out the truth, he'll come save us!" I urged.

Selene didn't reply. I mustered up every last bit of my spirit power to send an emergency link to Samuel.

As soon as he picked up, before I could even get a word out, his cold voice cut through.

"Evelyn, can't you act like a proper Luna? The Blood Moon's up tonight, and Lillian's not feeling well. Is it so wrong for me to stay with her?"

My power was draining away, and I knew my life was slipping with it.

He was only being this cold because he had no idea what I was going through, right?

Clinging to that last sliver of hope, I forced out my words with every ounce of strength left.

"Samuel, help me! I'm at—"

"Enough, Evelyn!" He cut me off, annoyed.

"You are a werewolf with the power of the Progenitor. Who could possibly hurt you? I'm tired of you playing the weak Omega act. Haven't you gotten bored of it yet?"

"I'm not lying," I gasped. "Someone... someone tore out my heart..."

A cold laugh echoed through the link.

"Evelyn, you're so stupid you can't even lie properly now? If your heart was gone, you'd be dead already—not wasting breath calling me!

"Are you that starved for attention? Lillian's your sister, for God's sake. She's a fragile Omega with nothing. But you? You've got that Progenitor Bloodline. You've got Selene—the white wolf. By tomorrow, you'll be the untouchable Mrs. Blackwood. What more could you want? Do you really have to drive Lillian to her grave?"

So that's how Samuel saw me—some vicious monster...

I swallowed back the words I'd been holding. I fell onto my back and gave up struggling, my voice barely a whisper.

"But Lillian's the one alive and well. I'm the one who's... dying."

"Then hurry up and die. Stop picking on Lillian—an Omega. It's a disgrace to our Alpha blood."

Samuel cut off the emergency link. That was it. He'd sealed my fate.

Wolves howled all around, but I just stared up at the Blood Moon, burning with rage and regret.

Samuel and I had promised each other, when we were pups, that we'd mate on the night of the Blood Moon. He'd even sworn he'd have every wolf in the clan howling in celebration for us all night long.

But here I was, dying, and he was only thinking about my Omega stepsister.

I bet right then, he was holding Lillian close, whispering sweet nothings to her.

Evelyn! I won't let you die!

Selene's voice cut through—calm, determined. She started chanting an old, familiar spell.

In an instant, the last bit of the Progenitor's power in my body resonated with the Blood Moon. A beam of crimson light came crashing down, so bright it blinded me.

"Selene! What's happening?!" I shouted. No answer.

When my eyes finally adjusted, I froze.

I was standing under the Sacred Tree—and there, locked in a fierce kiss, were Samuel and Lillian.

D*mn them! How could they do this?!

I opened my mouth to scream at them, but a searing pain tore through my chest. The kind of physical agony that only comes when your mate betrays you.

"Samuel! Lillian! Stop this right now!"

I fought through the pain and lunged at them—only for my hands to pass right through their bodies.

I stared down at my almost transparent hands in shock. No one around even glanced my way.

That's when it hit me. Not long ago, someone had torn out my heart. My body and power had collapsed without that bloodline anchor. I was dead.

My spirit had somehow found its way to them. Selene was gone—no trace of her, no answer to my calls.

Watching the two of them kiss, my spirit felt like it was being torn to shreds.

I was the one who'd grown up with him, who'd been by his side since we were pups. Not long ago, Samuel had looked me dead in the eye and promised, "My feelings for Lillian are just brotherly. You're the only one I've ever loved, Evelyn."

"Samuel! You lied to me!"

It was like he heard my scream. He jolted awake and pushed Lillian away hard.

"No... Lillian! We can't do this."

I stood right beside them, close enough to see the flush still lingering on Lillian's cheeks. In the crimson moonlight, she looked even more delicate. She bit her lower lip, looking hurt.

"Samuel, I'm so sorry. I just... I couldn't help myself."

Samuel ruffled her hair gently. "It's okay, I'm not mad. I just need to check on Evelyn. Make sure she's alright."

A cold chill ran through my spirit. Twenty years of friendship, of love—worthless.

He only thought of me after he'd finished kissing my stepsister.

A few seconds later, Samuel's face turned deathly pale.

He knew I'd always answer his mental link, no matter what—even if I was in the middle of a battle.

But I was dead now. No wolf in history had ever talked to a ghost.

"Lillian, I have to find Evelyn. What if she really is in danger?"

Finally. After everything, Samuel was finally thinking about me.

Chapter 2

Utter Betrayal

Evelyn's POV:

Before I died, I'd left a strong scent at my location. Anyone who truly wanted to find me would've picked it up right away.

If he went searching now, he could still retrieve my body.

But the longer he waited, the more I feared what that premeditated killer might do to my corpse.

He already had my heart. Who knew if he'd tear out the rest of my organs too?

Lillian clamped down on Samuel's wrist, her eyes wide and teary as she stared up at him.

"No, Samuel! Don't go, please? The Blood Moon is terrifying! My chest feels tight, like I can't catch my breath. I'm so scared. Stay with me, okay?"

And Samuel actually stopped. His eyes softened with pity as he looked at Lillian.

"But Evelyn..."

"Samuel, haven't you learned?" Lillian cut him off. "Evelyn's always putting on a show. Remember when she said she was in the hospital for surgery? You dropped a billion-dollar deal to rush back, and she was perfectly fine. Or that time she claimed someone was following her. It turned out to be nothing too.

"She's just spoiled rotten by Dad. She loves pulling this stunt. She's the Vandeleur heiress, an Alpha's daughter, and she has the Progenitor Bloodline. Who could possibly hurt her?"

With Lillian's prodding, Samuel stepped back. He rubbed his temples in frustration.

"If only Evelyn were half as sensible as you."

Lillian smiled. And I laughed too—cold, bitter laughter.

Once, he'd told me, "Only kids who aren't loved need to be 'sensible'. My Evelyn can be a wild, unruly Alpha female."

Samuel never came looking for me. Instead, he took Lillian to our secret cabin deep in the woods.

I stood in the doorway, desperate to block her from entering the place that belonged only to Samuel and me.

But I was just a spirit now—too weak to even stop an Omega from walking through me.

Lillian giggled as she passed right through my body.

Turns out, whether I was alive or dead, I couldn't keep her away from him.

Lillian walked out of the bathroom wearing my nightgown—the one I'd picked out as a surprise for Samuel on our mating night.

When Samuel saw her curvy figure through the thin silk, his Adam's apple bobbed. His pupils dilated, turning a faint red.

I'd known him long enough to recognize that look. He was turned on.

That weird chemistry between them lit me up with anger and sadness.

"Lillian, that's Evelyn's dress." Samuel frowned, though his voice lacked any real firmness.

"I know." She looped her arms around his neck. "But Samuel, you don't like Evelyn anymore. You like me, don't you?"

"Lillian, that's enough," he said, his face cold but I saw right through him. He was dying to tear that nightgown off her and pin her down.

Lillian ignored his fake protest. She kissed him hard, then slowly dropped to her knees between his legs. She unzipped his pants, pulled out his thick cock, and took it in her mouth.

Samuel groaned.

Lillian looked up at him. He was gripping the table, his eyes glazed over.

"Samuel, just tonight, okay? I know Evelyn would never do this for you. She's that prissy, old-fashioned virgin. Tonight, you can do whatever you want to me. Any position—anything. I'm not greedy. Just one night. Please, Samuel. I want to be yours."

"No! Lillian! I'm your brother! This is wrong!!" He pushed her away, but his hands were shaking.

Lillian clung to him, refusing to let go. "Samuel! We're not siblings! We have no blood ties at all! I love you—I just want to be your woman tonight. Even if it's only one night!"

"This is ridiculous!"

"If you don't want me, I'll go to the border and find a pack of Rogues! I'll let them f*ck me one after another! I'll have their pups! Since you don't care about me anymore, it doesn't matter who I sleep with. I'll—"

Samuel couldn't stand to hear another word. He spun her around, crashed his lips onto hers, and tore the nightgown off her body in one rough move.

He forgot all about that nightgown being mine. Forgot this cabin was our secret place—the one we'd promised to share on our mating night, to complete our mating ritual.

"Samuel! You bast**d! How could you?!" I screamed, but my voice didn't reach them.

When Samuel pushed himself inside Lillian, a searing pain ripped through my entire spirit.

In our cabin—our sacred place—Samuel had betrayed me completely.

I wanted to run from that disgusting room, but I couldn't get more than three yards away from Samuel. I was stuck, forced to watch.

Samuel let loose all the lust he'd been holding back.

"F*ck me, Samuel!" Lillian moaned—just like she'd promised, she was everything he wanted in bed.

Samuel had long forgotten about me. He thrust hard and fast into Lillian, squeezing her breasts roughly while he groaned and cursed.

"Oh, you little sl*t. So tight for me, godd*mmit!

"F*ck! Arch your butt higher!"

He slapped Lillian's raised butt, leaving a bright red handprint. That Samuel—lost in his lust—was someone I didn't recognize. Someone repulsive.

I didn't know how I got through that endless night. At some point, the pain numbed all my senses. I couldn't see, couldn't hear.

I huddled in the corner, waiting for dawn. When the first ray of sunlight slipped through the window, I finally came to my senses.

"Lillian, I'm sorry... Last night, I—we..." Samuel's voice was hoarse, full of fake remorse.

Pathetic. When he'd been f*cking her raw just hours before, he hadn't looked sorry at all.

Disgusting, Samuel. Absolutely disgusting.

"Samuel, don't worry. I'll never tell Evelyn about this," Lillian said softly. "From now on, you're just Evelyn's mate. I'll leave the pack and never bother you two again."

The second Lillian mentioned leaving, Samuel's expression changed.

"Who said you can leave? You—"

His words were cut off by the ring of his phone. He answered it quickly.

A stern male voice came from the other end.

"Mr. Blackwood, patrol officers fished a custom wedding dress out of the Sacred River this morning. We've confirmed it belongs to your mate, Mrs. Evelyn Blackwood. Given her special bloodline, we need you to come to the station to assist with our investigation."

Chapter 3

Evelyn's Just Lying

Evelyn's POV:

With the police saying that, Samuel must finally believe I was really begging for help last night.

He'd shut down my emergency link cold. I was sure he'd be drowning in regret right now.

After all, we'd had over 20 years together. He wasn't some heartless monster.

But to my shock, there wasn't a single hint of panic on his handsome face. He asked casually, "Just the wedding dress?"

"Yes, sir. So far only the dress, but please believe us, Mrs. Blackwood is likely in danger. We found traces on the dress that—"

Samuel cut the cop off mid-sentence. "I don't care who called this in, but I know Evelyn. She's not in any danger. She's pulled this stunt a hundred times. Don't waste your time with her silly little spoiled-brat games."

"Mr. Blackwood, we urge you to—"

The officer didn't get to finish. Samuel hung up, then cursed under his breath, "F*cking cops with nothing better to do."

How naive I'd been.

I'd actually daydreamed about him panicking when he heard the news—about him rushing to the Sacred River without a second thought.

Lillian clung to Samuel, completely naked, kissing the back of his neck as she spoke.

"Samuel... what if... what if Evelyn really is in trouble?"

Samuel furrowed his brows. "When Evelyn linked me yesterday, I did feel she was weak."

"Maybe she's still mad I tried on her dress, so she threw it in the river. But we love each other for real. I already held back and let you be with her. What more does she want?

"You had that dress designed to my taste anyway. Was she really that petty about me trying it on? A million-dollar dress, just tossed away like trash! And now she's dragged the police into this. She's trying to humiliate both our families!"

"You're right, Lillian. Evelyn's not in danger. She's just throwing a fit." Disgust oozed from Samuel's voice when he said my name.

The dress...

Of course I'd been mad about the dress!

I was the Vandeleur heiress—a female Alpha with the Progenitor's power. My wedding dress should've been one of a kind, made just for me.

But when I got home, there was Lillian, surrounded by our servants, trying on my dress.

A tiny Omega... and it fit her perfectly?

That was my dress! I was way taller than her. How could it possibly fit?

"Lillian, take it off. Now!" My upbringing told me not to lash out at an Omega.

I held my temper, but my Alpha father snapped at me. "Is this your idea of good manners? Talking to your sister like that? Embarrassing her in front of everyone? It's just a dress. If Lillian wants to try it, let her!"

"Dad, I—"

"Enough, Evelyn. I don't want to hear your excuses. You're not needed here. Go to your room."

Samuel had stood right beside Lillian that day. My fiancé... and he never said a word to defend me.

Lillian had her arm linked through his in my dress. They looked like the real couple.

My dad's favoritism started when Lillian fell into the river at age five. I'd jumped in to save her, but I couldn't.

I hit my head on a rock and blacked out. When I woke up, I learned a Blackwood heir had rescued me... but Lillian was gone, lost in the current.

That's how I met Samuel Blackwood. We grew up side by side, childhood sweethearts.

When I was 18, Alpha White Blackwood found a mother and daughter stranded in the Western Woods. He fell for the woman, Camilla, and took her as his second mate.

That's when Lillian arrived with Camilla. Back then, Samuel couldn't stand her.

Three years ago, at my engagement party, my stepmother, Isabella Vandeleur, caught the scent of her long-lost pup on Lillian.

Isabella stared into Lillian's eyes for five seconds, then burst into tears. "It's her! It's my baby!"

Lillian "regained her memory" right then, claiming she was the Vandeleur daughter who'd fallen into the river all those years ago.

Just as everyone celebrated, Lillian suddenly grabbed my gown and sobbed.

"Evelyn, my sister... why did you lie to me, lure me out, and push me into the river?"

What was she talking about?

Her words hit me like a sledgehammer, leaving me reeling.

Lillian kept begging. "I'll be good from now on. I won't fight you for anything. Just don't hurt me again. I miss Mom and Dad, I miss my brother. Let me come home, please?"

Dad raised his hand and slapped me hard. "I never thought you'd be so cruel. Lillian was only five! How could you do that to her?"

I never imagined he'd hit me without even hearing my side.

"Lillian's lying! That's not what happened! I didn't push her—I swear I didn't!"

"Do you think an Omega would dare frame you like this? Why would she tell such a terrible lie? My poor Lillian... you've suffered so much."

Isabella—my stepmother, Lillian's real mother—crushed Lillian in a hug, both of them sobbing.

I wanted to scream. Why was she doing this to me?

If Dad hadn't been there, I would've used my Alpha aura to make her tell the truth.

My engagement party turned into a messy family reunion—with me branded the "wicked sister," a label I'd never shake.

They'd rather believe an Omega than me?

It was the most absurd thing I'd ever faced.

I was furious, frustrated, helpless. I looked to Samuel—my mate, the man I was about to bond with. He had to believe me.

He pulled me into his arms, patting my back gently. "I believe you. How could I not? You're Evelyn—the kindest, sweetest female Alpha in the world."

What had happened to the Samuel who used to stand by me, as loyal as Selene?

I stared at the two of them in bed, my spirit heavy with sorrow.

Turns out, when I was dead, even the deepest grief couldn't bring tears. My eyes were empty, dry.

I didn't have a heart anymore... but my chest still ached, like something was being torn apart.

I tried again to leave, but I couldn't get more than three yards from Samuel. I was trapped.

If only Selene were here. She'd find a way to free my spirit from this disgusting man.

I had no choice but to watch them get up. Lillian put on my clothes and sat at the vanity.

She picked up my lipstick, batting her eyes coquettishly. "Samuel, put this on me?"

As if they were the real, bonded mates.

"Quit messing around, Lillian. We agreed things go back to normal after last night."

"I know. I won't bother you and Evelyn, I promise." Lillian dropped her head, looking wronged.

"Samuel, still no word from Evelyn?" she asked softly.

I heard Samuel snort. "Her? I've spoiled her too much. Now she's playing hide-and-seek."

"That's just Evelyn. She loves playing hard to get. Don't worry. She's probably at our parents' place, ignoring you on purpose to make you worry about her."

"Today's my Alpha inheritance ceremony for the Blackwood Pack. It's too important. She'll show up. When I get back, I'll find out what little game she's playing."

Chapter 4

Finally Realizing I'm Dead?

Evelyn's POV:

Samuel's stepmother, Camilla, had once been a Rogue—her fated mate had died.

The story went: on the day Camilla lost her mate, she'd stumbled upon Lillian, also a Rogue, about to be gang-raped by a pack of male Rogues. She saved her.

Lillian's eyes looked just like Camilla's late mate's. So Camilla took the fragile Lillian in as her daughter.

Later, Camilla met Alpha White of the Blackwood Pack.

Thanks to Lillian's lies, Camilla thought I was a vicious female Alpha. She'd never liked me—either snapping at me or ignoring me entirely.

I followed Samuel to the Blackwood Manor. I figured Alpha White's brute strength would let him spot my spirit form. But he didn't see it—not at all.

Lillian spoke up sweetly, "Dad, Mom."

White grunted in response. Then his gaze locked on Samuel, and he exploded.

"You bast**d! You finally decide to come home? You've dragged the Blackwood name through the mud!"

Last night, when the Blood Moon was nearly full and the Moon Goddess's blessing was about to fall, Lillian called.

She'd claimed the Blood Moon was making her heart ache terribly. Samuel had run off without a second thought—leaving me, the female Alpha with Progenitor Bloodline, to be the laughingstock of the entire city.

Lillian was a pro at playing the weak Omega. She apologized to Alpha White with folded hands.

"Dad, it's all my fault. The Blood Moon was affecting me. I thought my heart condition was flaring up, so I called Samuel. I never meant for this mess. Blame me, not him."

Camilla scooped Lillian up in a hug. "Lillian's heart palpitations are from that wicked sister pushing her into the river all those years ago! Besides, the Vandeleurs haven't complained. Why are you overreacting? Get up, Lillian."

This scene had played out countless times over the past two years. Every fight between Lillian and me, Alpha White and Camilla always took Lillian's side.

White might snap at Lillian a little, but then he'd lecture me: a proper Alpha shouldn't pick on a fragile Omega.

"Dad, where's Evelyn?" Samuel asked, his brows furrowed. "Today's my Alpha inheritance. She's not here yet?"

Alpha White's plan was simple: on the Blood Moon night, after Samuel and I mated, Samuel would take over as the Blackwood Pack's Alpha.

No one was more worthy of the Alpha title than Samuel—because his Luna was me, with the Progenitor's power.

"You dare mention her? Every werewolf's waiting for the blessing of your powers on the Blood Moon night, and you ran off to Lillian!" White roared.

"You got her torn apart by the members of every great pack. She calmed the guests, then said she was going to change out of her wedding dress. No one's seen her since. She upheld the Blackwood honor—while you trampled hers into the dirt!"

"What?!" Samuel's voice rose sharply. "You mean she never came back? Where is she? She hit me up through the mind link last night...

"She... The cops called me today. They found Evelyn's wedding dress down by the banks of the Sacred River..."

Well, had Samuel only just realized I was already dead?!

"Where is she? How the hell should I know? You didn't care about her when you left her on the once-in-a-century Blood Moon night! Who are you putting on this show for now?"

"Dad, I'm going out."

"Samuel, I'm coming with you."

Watching his flustered retreat, I wanted to laugh.

A little late for panic, wasn't it?

I followed Samuel to the police station, stopping in front of a desk labeled "Elias Gray—Sheriff."

Samuel cut straight to the chase. "Sheriff Gray, what the hell is going on?"

"Mr. Blackwood, this morning a wedding dress floated up in the Sacred River. The patrol officers thought it might be a body at first. We fished it out and recognized it immediately—it's Mrs. Blackwood's custom design. Every cop-wolf was watching her last night... That dress is one of a kind."

Lillian cut him off. "Besides the dress, did you find anything else?"

"No."

"Evelyn's just throwing a tantrum. She dumped the dress in the river to get attention. She's always pulling this stunt. We don't have time for her games." Lillian's tone was sharp, like I was some spoiled child.

Elias frowned. "And you are?"

"Lillian Vandeleur—Evelyn's sister."

"Alright, Ms. Vandeleur. Let me finish." He turned back to Samuel.

"We found traces of blood on the dress. Forensics confirmed it's 100% Mrs. Blackwood's. There are also two holes—no wolf claw marks. We think they were made by a sharp weapon. If Mrs. Blackwood was wearing the dress at the time, she was stabbed in the abdomen and back.

"So we believe Mrs. Blackwood was attacked last night. And the attacker is a dangerous outsider—someone not from our territories.

"If there's someone even Mrs. Blackwood can't take down in our lands... we werewolves are in serious trouble."

Samuel froze. Then he snapped, "That's impossible! Evelyn has the Progenitor's power. Her wolf—Selene—is a top-tier fighter. And last night was the Blood Moon. Her strength would've been at its peak. No one could take her down!"

Chapter 5

Evelyn Is Dead

Evelyn's POV:

It was true—no werewolf in our territories could take me down.

But last night, when I faced that killer, I couldn't tap into a single ounce of my power.

That's why I'd mind-linked Samuel in an emergency, begging for help from the pack. But no one came.

And even now... he still didn't believe I was dead.

"Impossible!" Lillian chimed in, echoing his denial. "If there really was an outsider attacker, Evelyn would've alerted the pack the second she found out. But she didn't do a thing—just left a bloody dress."

"Right." Samuel's eyes lit up, like he'd just had a breakthrough. "Did you find any other clues at the scene? Her phone? Shoes? Personal stuff? What about a weapon? Or more blood? Any strange scents?"

"Nothing so far."

Lillian tugged at Samuel's sleeve, her voice soft and fragile. "Let me tell you what happened. Evelyn took off the dress, stabbed it with a knife, splattered some of her own blood on it, then tossed it in the river. She's just trying to make a scene."

"That girl's getting more and more out of line."

The voice belonged to my stepmother, Isabella. When did she get here?

And Dad... and my brother, too?

From my parents to my brother—they all parroted the same line. They all thought I was throwing a tantrum.

Elias cut them off. "Mrs. Vandeleur, please calm down."

"Calm down? She's been missing since the Blood Moon last night—right through Samuel's Alpha inheritance today! She doesn't care about either of our families' reputations! Where's the dignity of an Alpha in that? I raised her, and this is how she turns out—harming her own sister! I never taught her that!"

My brother Alexander Vandeleur's eyes flickered. Disapproval blazed clear in his eyes.

"Sheriff, we're busy people. We're just here to say we don't have time to play detective with Evelyn."

I stood there, frozen, my spirit throbbing with a dull, endless pain.

These were the people who'd doted on me for years—same faces, but they felt so alien. What had I done to make them hate me this much?

"Ms. Evelyn Vandeleur has a unique bloodline. She's missing, and the odds are that she's been murdered. Don't any of you care about her?" Elias's voice was tight with frustration.

"I know my daughter. She's strong. Who could kill her? Besides, the Blood Moon last night should've awakened the Progenitor's power. Who'd be stupid enough to mess with her? Stop wasting your resources. Evelyn's probably hiding somewhere, snickering to herself right now."

"Now, Sheriff, I have a meeting to get to. We'll be going."

And just like that, my family left. I even heard Isabella—who'd always claimed to love me—mutter, "Ugh, I didn't even finish my manicure. Wasting my time on this nonsense."

"Mom, your nails look amazing. Where did you get them done?" Lillian cozied up to her.

"I'll take you later. We'll get facials too. If only Evelyn were half as obedient as you, I wouldn't have two new wrinkles from stress."

Most people were gone. Only Samuel remained, silent until now.

"Mr. Blackwood, has she contacted you before she went missing? Last night, you left her in front of every single wolf in the pack. That means the Blood Moon ritual never happened. Her power might not have awakened at all... or maybe it backfired—because of betrayal."

The word "betrayal" made Samuel snap. He roared, shifting into his massive wolf form—his eyes blood-red as he glared at Elias.

"Betrayal? What the hell are you talking about? I'd never betray Evelyn!"

If I hadn't watched him and Lillian f*ck last night, I might've actually believed his act.

"Sheriff Gray, you haven't found a body. You haven't found a crime scene. How can you be so sure she's dead?"

"She's your mate! She has the Progenitor Bloodline!"

"So what?" Samuel released a powerful Alpha aura, pinning Elias and his officers to the spot. "Start the investigation when you find a body. Until then, drop it."
