Jessica records Johan agreeing to give Suzette credit for a formula Jessica created. By the time she reaches the launch in Sorry Alpha I Don't Want To Be Your Mistress, she knows what he plans to say and has evidence of how the arrangement was made. Getting that evidence heard is much harder than collecting it.

Two private links expose the explanations Johan gives her
Chapter 1 begins with Johan preparing to mark Jessica. Lydia interrupts through a mindlink, asking why he is not with his mate. Jessica can hear the exchange because of an ability she connects to the Seer's Gene described by her mother. Johan does not realize she has heard him promise to return to Suzette.
He tells Jessica that his Beta brought news. Later, after Suzette contacts him herself, he claims he must attend to something at the Council Hall. The sequence gives Jessica two opportunities to compare his explanation with the conversation behind it. Seeing the mate mark on his collarbone makes the contradiction harder to dismiss.
Suzette is also the half-sister Jessica remembers abusing her alongside Lydia. Johan once carried Jessica away after she escaped their captivity. His present attachment therefore changes how she understands a relationship founded on a promise of protection.
Accepting Dahlia's offer starts a departure that still takes work
At the end of Chapter 1, Jessica contacts Moon Seer Dahlia and accepts an offer to join the Silvercrest Healing Dominion. Chapter 2 shows that this is an existing connection: they met at a pack gathering and have spoken regularly since. Jessica has someone outside Johan's household to call.
She has not simply walked out by the next page. She packs possessions bought with her own money, arranges to return jewelry, and disposes of gifts. Those actions give her decision a practical form while she remains close enough to Johan to hear another promise.
Her investment in him has also been costly. She recalls giving up her soul-bone to a healer to save him after silver poisoning, losing her ability to shift. That sacrifice helps explain the emotional difficulty of leaving. It does not make his later conduct an obligation she must accept.
The invitation disappears when Suzette asks for authorship
Johan offers to introduce Jessica as the Alchemist behind his company's cosmetic and fragrance work in Chapter 2. Her response shows how long she has waited for public acknowledgment. Chapter 3 then lets her hear Suzette ask to be announced as LunaSkin's creator instead.
Jessica records that exchange with a moonstone mirror Dahlia gave her. Johan agrees to Suzette's request, then tells Jessica she cannot attend because rival companies would make it dangerous. His explanation invokes her safety while removing her from the event where someone else will receive her credit.
The mirror gives Jessica a way to preserve words that would otherwise remain inside a private link. Her narration also describes learning the company's work and developing its formulas. The authorship dispute has evidence and a work history behind it, even though Johan's position lets him decide who will be introduced.
Wearing her perfume makes her presence difficult to ignore
Jessica attends anyway. In Chapter 4, Johan recognizes the LunaSkin Bloom scent on her and tries to have Beta Kain remove her quietly. She answers the mindlink aloud, revealing that she can hear the instruction.
Suzette then claims the perfume as her own in front of the guests and reporters. When Johan publicly confirms that story, the accusation turns against Jessica: wearing her own creation becomes a supposed sign of theft. Warriors seize her on Suzette's order to search for formula notes.
This is where the launch becomes dangerous beyond professional credit. Authority over the event is used to justify force against the person disputing its story. Calling the search an investigation would obscure Jessica's resistance and the humiliation the scene describes.
The playback begins before the consequences are known
Chapter 5 gives Johan another opportunity to intervene. He repeats Suzette's authorship claim and eventually orders Jessica taken backstage for a search. Jessica resists being removed, exposes the scars left by earlier abuse, and releases the mirrorstone that projects a recording to the room.
Her response to a threatened search is made under coercion. The scene should not be presented as uncomplicated consent to public exposure, or as a glamorous performance. The cameras and spectators make the cost of being heard visible alongside her determination.
