Fake Dating The Hockey Alpha: A Pact With an Exit Date

Fake Dating The Hockey Alpha landscape story artwork

Aria arrives on the academy's New Year cruise expecting Ethan to introduce her as his mate. By the time she needs somewhere to sleep, he has publicly rejected her and ordered her out of their suite. Lucas, the hockey captain Ethan dislikes, offers a new public role: his girlfriend, but only until the ship reaches the end of its tour. In the first five chapters of Fake Dating The Hockey Alpha, the fake relationship starts with a deadline and a housing problem, not a declaration of love.

This reading stays within chapters 1-5. Content note: public humiliation, coercive rejection, suicidal thoughts and an incident at the ship's railing. The deck scene is a crisis, not a romantic solution.

Before the pact, Aria wanted to be acknowledged

Ethan has kept their relationship quiet for months. Mia doubts his promise to make it public at the welcome party, while Lily wants Aria to enjoy the night. Aria believes the announcement will change how the academy's elite see an omega they routinely look down on. Her anticipation is about belonging as well as romance.

Instead, she finds Ethan kissing Vanessa. He says their relationship was a bet, insults Aria in front of other students and rejects their mate bond. When she hesitates, he threatens banishment from the pack unless she accepts. Aria's acceptance follows that threat; it is not evidence that she has freely decided she no longer wants the bond. Ethan then tells her to remove her things from the suite. The public reversal costs her both the promised status and her place to stay.

On the deck, Aria considers jumping. Lucas tells her not to, then taunts her before catching her when she loses her balance. The danger of that exchange should not be softened into a model of care. The moment ends with Aria recognizing him as a second-chance mate, but recognition alone does not repair what happened or make him trustworthy.

The cabin rule makes a tempting offer harder to refuse

Lucas proposes that they pretend to date for the rest of the cruise, anger Ethan and Vanessa, then reject each other on the final day. Aria initially says no. Lucas answers with a practical question: Ethan has expelled her from his room, and the ship's two-person limit prevents her from simply joining Mia and Lily in theirs. He also says he saw how Ethan treated her and hates it.

Those motives can coexist without making the bargain equal. Lucas has a suite and the standing of an Alpha and hockey captain; Aria has just lost her room and fears returning to the pack. She agrees and insists the relationship be strictly fake. Both say they are uninterested in the mate bond. Yet her decision is made under immediate pressure, while his proposed exit date is easy for him to announce from a secure position.

Their joking rule against falling in love is less revealing than that exit date. It lets them borrow a couple's public protection without promising to face what happens after the cruise. Aria imagines Lucas resuming his comfortable life while she returns to being bullied. The opening gives her a temporary plan, not a settled future.

The first performance happens where Aria was displaced

In chapter 4, Aria goes back to Ethan's suite to pack. Ethan and Vanessa are there, and Ethan uses his rank to demand obedience before shoving her. Lucas enters and calls Aria his girlfriend, then his mate. Ethan immediately suspects the display is meant to anger him. In one sense, he is right: revenge is part of the plan. But that does not cancel Aria's more basic aim of leaving with her belongings and somewhere else to go.

Aria laughs with Lucas afterward at Ethan and Vanessa's reaction. The laughter matters because it is one of her own responses, not merely a line Lucas feeds her. Still, Lucas's public claim and the private reality are different things. His suite offers a place to stay, while Aria remains uneasy about sharing it with a man she does not yet trust.

Offstage, Mia and Lily ask the harder question

Chapter 5 briefly interrupts the couple's performance. Lucas is called away by a teammate about a message from his father, and Aria visits Mia and Lily. She tells them about Ethan, the deck and the fake-dating arrangement. They hold her when she describes the crisis; their concern is a reminder that her life is not reducible to which Alpha claims her. Lily imagines romance with Lucas, but Mia asks what happens after the cruise if Aria must return to the same pack and its bullying.

That question remains unanswered when Lucas collects Aria and they reach his suite door. The first five chapters establish the agreement, its first public test and a support system outside it. They do not establish whether Lucas will honor the deadline, whether Aria will want him to, or where she can safely go afterward. Readers drawn to fake dating with a real material cost can start with the preview and watch whose interests the performance serves.
