Chosen By The Cursed Alpha King: Emilia's Interrupted Escape

chosen by the cursed alpha king - werewolf romance ebook

Emilia enters the Alpha King's palace with a plan to survive it. By the fifth chapter of Chosen By The Cursed Alpha King, she has slipped out of the women's quarters and begun searching for a route toward the woods. Then a growl draws her to a room she should probably leave alone.

That interrupted escape gives the opening its strongest question: why does Emilia approach a creature she fears, and what will that detour cost her? The first five chapters follow her from family abuse to an unexplained encounter, keeping her desire for freedom in view.

Content note: Family violence, body-shaming, coerced sexual access, threats of death and references to women dying. The palace's demands are coercion; being sent there does not constitute consent.

Her father has already taken away her rank

Emilia is twenty-two and the daughter of Alpha Gregor of the Red Moon Pack. Chapter 1 explains that her father demoted her to Omega because she has no wolf and fails his standards of appearance. Her low position is a punishment imposed by her family.

Rosella's favored status makes the scene painful in a specific way. Their father can turn from contempt for Emilia to pride in her sister within the same exchange. Emilia sees affection being given freely to someone else while being told she should feel grateful for her own mistreatment.

She argues, asks what she has done to deserve this and says she intends to survive. These responses do not stop the transfer. They establish that she understands what is happening and objects to it. Chapter 2 carries that resistance into a small physical action: packing a few clothes and an old book from the former storage room where she sleeps.

The palace receives people as offerings

Six women arrive together in Chapter 2. Guards inspect them, and one asks Emilia her name and who her father is. When she names her father, the guard pauses at the fact that an Alpha's daughter has been sent with the Omegas. Emilia's answer makes clear how little protection that family title now gives her.

Inside, the mistress tells the women to remain silent, avoid the King's eyes and obey a summons without protest. She also says that no one will come if they scream. The rules make the danger institutional: the guards, transport and household staff all help deliver women to it.

Readers interested in how another heroine challenges her family's authority can compare Aysel's decision to call the Enforcers in The Pack's Daughter. Emilia has no comparable avenue of appeal in these opening palace scenes, which helps explain the urgency of her escape attempt.

Maximus's chapter explains the threat without excusing it

Chapter 3 changes viewpoint to Maximus. He describes a curse and a destructive wolf he cannot tame. He says women have died and that other Alphas send more in the hope of gaining favor or providing a cure. This goes beyond the rumors Emilia hears at home, although it still reaches us through his own account.

His distress does not remove his responsibility for the danger around him. The chapter shows him ordering women into his room and reacting with anger to their fear. Eventually, he commands Lucien to admit no more women that night.

That order reaches Emilia before she reaches the chamber. In Chapter 4, Lucien turns her and the mistress back. Emilia is relieved, but understands that a postponed summons could still come later. She decides to leave that night instead of treating the delay as safety.

The escape leads to a chained creature

Chapter 5 slows down around Emilia's movement through the palace. She passes a sleeping guard, follows the corridors and hopes to reach the woods. She has no mapped route. When she hears a growl, she turns toward it despite her fear.

The creature she finds is chained and in distress. Emilia sees something familiar in its captivity and reaches toward it. Her touch calms it, and it holds her. The encounter then becomes more complicated: when she tries to move, it growls a warning, so she remains.

That detail prevents a simple reading of the scene as refuge. Compassion brought her closer, but she is still afraid and her movement is constrained. The narration leaves the cause of her calming effect unexplained; it does not establish a completed cure or confirm a mate bond.

When Emilia wakes, a man's arms have replaced the creature's hold. She runs without looking at his face. The sample closes with her alarm that this encounter may have damaged her chance of freedom. Readers can judge the opening through that unresolved choice: Emilia tries to help something suffering while still needing to get herself out.
